Daily direct trains to Gothenburg with Snälltåget
Travel by train to Gothenburg – Sweden's west coast city with shopping, restaurants, culture, entertainment and easy access to the sea. Whether you are planning a weekend break, a family holiday or a day trip, there is plenty to discover.
With Snälltåget, you can easily travel to Gothenburg from destinations including Malmö and Oslo, with daily departures from 15 June 2026.
Travel to Gothenburg by train
Travelling to Gothenburg by train is both comfortable and sustainable. From 15 June 2026, Snälltåget will operate daily direct trains between Malmö, Gothenburg and Oslo.
Snälltåget stops at Mölndal and Gamlestaden, where Gothenburg's public transport network provides convenient connections to the city's attractions and places of interest.
The trains also normally call at Lund, Helsingborg, Halmstad, Varberg, Trollhättan, Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad. During much of the year, we also offer connecting train services to and from Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin.

Food and drinks on board
During your journey, you can visit our restaurant car Krogen, where breakfast, hot meals and cold dishes are served on proper crockery, with drinks served in glassware. Please remember to reserve a table in the restaurant car before departure. Read more about Krogen.
Krogen's self-service counter also offers coffee, sandwiches, pastries, snacks and sweets if you would like something lighter to enjoy at your seat.
The restaurant car is available on most of our train services. On overnight services between Berlin, Hamburg and Malmö, a kiosk offering a smaller selection of food and drinks is available instead.
Affordable train travel to Gothenburg
At Snälltåget, you will find affordable train travel to Gothenburg, with one-way tickets from SEK 149. We offer discounts for young travellers, students and seniors, as well as special savings for two or more people travelling together and for children travelling with an adult. Public transport in Gothenburg
Snälltåget stops at Mölndal and Gamlestaden, where you can easily continue your journey using Gothenburg's public transport network.
From Mölndal, tram routes 4 and 12 provide convenient connections to central Gothenburg:
- Korsvägen and Liseberg can be reached in approximately 12 minutes.
- Brunnsparken can be reached in approximately 18 minutes.
Trams normally run every ten minutes throughout most of the day.
Several tram routes operate from Gamlestaden:
- Routes 4, 7, 9 and 11 reach Brunnsparken in approximately 8 minutes.
- Routes including 4, 6 and 8 reach Korsvägen and Liseberg in approximately 14 minutes.

Tickets for public transport in Gothenburg can be purchased in the Västtrafik To Go app (opens in a new tab) or at Pressbyrån in Mölndal and Gamlestaden. You can also pay by tapping your contactless bank card on board the tram. Children under the age of 7 travel free of charge when accompanied by a passenger with a valid ticket.
24- or 72-hour ticket
If you plan to travel frequently during your stay, the Västtrafik Zone A 24- or 72-hour ticket (opens in a new tab) is a convenient option. The ticket allows unlimited travel within Gothenburg, Mölndal, Partille and Öckerö for either 24 or 72 hours. The ticket can only be purchased through the Västtrafik To Go app.
The ticket is also a good option for families. With an adult ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app, one adult aged 20 or over may bring up to three people under the age of 20 at no additional cost.
