Travelling with pets on Snälltåget
Pets are of course welcome on board. Animals such as dogs or cats can travel in designated areas on the train. Below you'll find information on the rules and how to book.
Pets are allowed in designated pet areas or compartments. You may bring one pet per passenger.
Currently, it is only possible to book travel with pets via Snälltåget.se. You cannot book a place in a pet area or pet compartment through our resellers at this time.
When booking a seat
When you book a Seat, select the "I want to travel with a pet" option in the first step of the online booking process.
Taking a pet with you costs the same as travelling with a child under 16 years old.
Currently, it is not possible to travel with pets on our daytime trains to and from Copenhagen. It is also not possible to travel with pets to Austria.
When booking a private compartment
Pets are allowed in Private Compartments on our night trains to the mountains (Jämtland and Härjedalen) and on night trains to Germany. You book such a compartment by selecting the "I want to travel with a pet" option in the first step of the online booking process.
It is not possible to travel with pets to Austria. The reason is that there are no longer stops on this route that allow for letting dogs or other pets out of the train, which makes the journey an impractical option for pets.
Pets on connecting transfers
Pets are allowed on all our connecting transfer buses to Blekinge, Tingsryd, Växjö, and our mountain destinations. Please ensure your pet is located at the rear of the bus.
Things to remember
- You may only bring one pet per passenger.
- Pets must stay on the floor and not be on seats or beds.
- For the comfort of allergy sufferers, pets cannot travel in other parts of the train. The only exception is guide dogs, which are allowed in all areas.
- If you are unable to book a specific departure when you select "I want to travel with a pet," it may be because pet areas are sold out or that particular departure does not have a pet area.
