Luggage rules on Snälltåget
Find information about our luggage rules and what applies to checking in baggage.
Hand luggage size
You are allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 55x45x25 cm and one smaller personal item, such as a handbag.
If you book a private compartment, you can bring more luggage, see below.
Private Compartment
If you book a Private Compartment, you can bring more luggage by using empty seats to store your belongings. There are room for six people in a Private Compartment.
Tips for travelers in a Private Compartment on night trains: Avoid packing in one large suitcase for the entire group. Instead, divide your belongings into several smaller bags. This makes it easier to fit your luggage in the compartment on board.
Pushchairs
Pushchairs must be folded for the entire journey and when boarding and alighting. Please note the height difference between the platform and the train, and you must lift the pushchair yourself.
Bicycles
Due to space constraints, we cannot accommodate bicycles on most of our trains. Folded bicycles may be carried if they fit within the hand luggage dimensions. On certain trains, you can check in your bicycle in the luggage carriage.
Checking in baggage
On most of our departures to Jämtland (trains 3900/3901, 3904/3905, and 3920/3921) and Austria (trains 304/305), you can check in larger luggage for a fee. Please note that the check-in service is not available for passengers travelling to Härjedalen.
We recommend pre-booking luggage check-in when purchasing your ticket. If you've already booked your ticket, you can still pre-book luggage check-in afterwards via My Journey.
Ensure your baggage is labelled with your name and phone number. Skis should be stored in cases, and bicycles should be properly packed. Larger bags should not exceed dimensions of 80x50x35 cm or weigh more than 23 kg. Checked-in baggage is returned upon presentation of a receipt.
Check-in and check-out are done at the train on the platform before departure and after arrival. Checked baggage is usually transported in a luggage car in the middle of the train. Please note that you will not have access to checked baggage during the journey. Therefore, make sure to pack separately the items you will need access to during the trip.
Lost property
We keep lost items for three months. If you have left something on board, send us an email to snalltaget@snalltaget.se with your booking number, the date you traveled with us, and a description of what you have forgotten, and we will contact you if we receive the item you are looking for.
