Accessibility statement for Snälltåget.se

In this statement, we describe how Snälltåget.se complies with the laws and guidelines governing digital accessibility:

  • The Swedish Act on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services (2023:254)
  • Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility requirements for products and services (the European Accessibility Act)
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, which form the basis of the European Accessibility Act
  • EN 301 549, the European standard applied in accessibility evaluations

For Snälltåget, the legislation primarily applies to the online booking system. However, our aim is for all other parts of the website to meet WCAG level AA requirements as far as possible.

Below, we describe the known accessibility issues and how you can contact us if you discover anything that does not work as intended.

Known accessibility issues

During the summer of 2025, we carried out an internal review to identify accessibility issues. This was followed by an external evaluation in October 2025.

The evaluation shows that Snälltåget.se does not currently meet all requirements in WCAG 2.1 level AA and EN 301 549. We are working continuously to address the issues that have been identified.

Known accessibility issues are listed below.

Technical issues

  • It is not possible to navigate to all elements on the website using the keyboard (tabbing), for example the date picker in the booking system or expandable text blocks.
  • Some buttons and links lack a defined name, role or value in the code, which makes them difficult or impossible to use with screen readers.
  • Several interactive elements lack a visible focus indicator, and focus can sometimes move to components that are not open, such as the menu.
  • Some functions are missing skip links (for example “Skip to content”).

Design issues

  • The contrast for some text, buttons, icons and focus indicators is insufficient.
  • Error messages are sometimes communicated by colour alone.

Content structure

  • Several images and icon-based buttons lack descriptive alt text or text alternatives.
  • Headings and landmarks are not structured consistently.
  • Language changes within the body text are not always correctly coded.
  • Some form fields lack clear or correctly associated labels.

Measures to address accessibility issues

We are working gradually to resolve accessibility issues, with the goal of complying with WCAG level AA.
